about
Patchwork Eye is the first single released by The Laughing Chimes. Written by aspiring bedroom rocker Evan Seurkamp (vocals and guitar) and recorded with his friend Elijah (bass) and brother Quinn (drums). The Laughing Chimes were formed in late May 2020 with Evan and Elijah being admins in a jangle pop forum.
Patchwork Eye was influenced by jangle indie rock from the 80s and 90s such as R.E.M., The La's. The Bats and recent acts such as Alvvays. The single reflects Evan's love for lo-fi recording, is given a unique flavor with Elijah's bass playing and is kept on track with Quinn's solid drumming.
